Chapel Street
A mix of business units and residential space behind the Atlantic Tower Thistle Hotel, these quirky glass-fronted buildings step down towards the waterfront casting a shadow over St Nick's church. They feature controversial penthouse suites which look as if boxes have been unwittingly balanced on top of the existing structures. The project cost £60m and was inspired by architecht Le Corbusier's famous Unité d'Habitation in Marseilles. In the foreground, the waterway is covered to accommodate cars boarding the Isle of Man Ferry.
