Strand Street
The hugely important and controversial warehouse site was once earmarked for Will Alsop's "Fourth Grace" or "The Cloud". Those plans fell apart in 2004 thanks to spiralling costs. Developers of this new plan promise lots of public realm space, capable of accommodating temporary exhibitions and café seating areas. There will also be plaza open space around the new canal basin. Strand Street itself has been affected by the Big Dig. Its course has been changed several times to accommodate the surrounding developments.
