LIVERPOOL CANAL LINK
Pier Head
This £20m scheme has extended the Leeds and Liverpool Canal across the world-famous Pier Head and into the South Docks. In total, it provides a further 1.4 miles of navigable waterway. It was completed in December 2008 just in time for the closing ceremony of the Capital of Culture year. The first boats were due to use the waterway by the following spring.
